Our Engineering Bar – or Special Bar Quality Steel (SBQ) – is available in a range of popular specifications which encompass carbon, freecutting, boron and alloy grades, and is also available as a bright product.
Careful control of our supply chain gives us exceptional flexibility as well as solid assurance that the highest quality standards are being maintained at every stage. It also means that products which can’t be supplied from stock can be manufactured to order in a short timescale, and in non-standard sizes if required.
Rolled bar: 16mm – 340mm
Forged bar: 350mm – 900mm
The majority of this material is rough peeled for added dimensional accuracy.
Shorter lengths can be supplied if required.
230M07 (EN1A), 070M20 (EN3B), 080M40 (EN8), 708M40 (EN19), 817M40 (EN24) and S355 (EN14A) grades are available ex-stock in the UK.
We have access to large stocks in Europe (available 3 — 5 days) in case hardening grades 16MnCrS4 and 20MNCrS5, through hardeners in 30CrNiMo8 (EN25 / 826M31 equivalent), 42CrMoS4 (EN19 / 708M40 equivalent) and 34CrNiMo6 (EN24 / 817M40 equivalent) — all these are held in the hardened and tempered condition. We also hold carbon grades C22, C35, C45 and C60.
Additionally we keep 230M07 (EN1A) in the UK as a bright product from 12mm to 200mm, including all major imperial sizes.
